Sven lives on Great Barrier Island, New Zealand, which is a remote island to the North-East of Auckland. One day in 1985, after hearing the story of a Manuka Tree splinter that had lodged in a local boy's eye and yet left the eye perfectly healthy when it was removed, Sven's curiosity led him to discover that many of the native plants on the island possessed therapeutic properties not previously identified. He began to experiment with beeswax from his hives and herbal plant extracts, and before long developed his own unique recipes for his friends and family to enjoy. Family member, Mark, finally convinced Sven to share his knowledge and expertise with the wider world, which has resulted in a no-nonsense range of 100% natural personal care products that feature the remarkable healing properties of the plants on Sven's island.
