How does fruit pigmentation work?
Fruit pigmentation is a fairly new innovation within the beauty industry that relies on food technology research.
In an interview● 100% Pure founder, Susie Wang, explained this process saying ’it’s a new technology; it started off because the food industry has more technology compared to cosmetics. They found a way to isolate and extract color pigments from fruits and then put it into a cosmetic base and from there you can get things like, lipstick. For foundations you want more of that ’skin-tone look", so you’ll see a lot of apricot, peach, and carrot versus our blushes where you’ll see strawberries [and] raspberries. It depends what you’re looking for and what kind of payoff you want to achieve. For eyes we want darker colors so we’ll use blueberries, or blackberries, or figs. It’s something that is definitely the first of its kind."
What are the benefits of wearing fruit pigmented makeup?
Fruit pigments are actually the concentration of a fruits vitamins and minerals, which means they are much better for you than mainstream chemical based products! As these cosmetics are full of antioxidants, they are good for the skin and fight off free radicals that are associated with ageing.
Mainstream beauty products often contain harsh chemical preservatives, petrochemicals, synthetic fragrances, lead and parabens which can be toxic and potentially penetrate into the blood stream. That’s why fruit pigment technology is so amazing! These products will not only provide bright, beautiful colours but actually help feed the skin with goodness●●
This is particularly important when it comes to lipstick and glosses. Just like we wouldn’t eat any chemical ridden foods, we shouldn’t be putting these chemicals anywhere near our mouths!
