Your guide to getting the ultimate tan this summer with Nourished Life's range of organic fake tan. Learn how to best prep your skin for tanning, how to apply it and make it last with natural products that will nourish your skin whilst giving it a beautiful sunkissed glow.

1. Prep your skin
No matter what kind of fake tan you use, you need to have a good canvas to work from. Prep your skin for the perfect tan by using a strong, natural body scrub or exfoliant glove in the shower. Ensure to 'remove' all dry skin and rough patches, however be sure to avoid oil-based scrubs which can act as a barrier against the tan adhering to the skin.
If you need to shave your legs, try to do it a day before applying tan so your skin won't be too sensitised to the fake tan plus you won't have to shave on top of a fresh fake tan.
Lastly, moisturise the extra dry areas on your body like the elbows, knees, ankles, hands and wrists to stop the fake tan from catching and building up on these patches.

2. Choose and apply your product
To apply, it's best to use a glove particularly if you're using an oil and start with the large areas of the body like the limbs, back and chest. Then spend a little longer focusing the tricky areas like ankles, feet, hands and neck. To give your hands a natural looking tan, mix part tanner and part natural body cream so you don't end up with orange streak marks in between your fingers and on your palms!

3. Tanning your face
It's critical to use natural fake tan that is specially formulated for the more sensitive skin on your face, like the Lavera Organic Face Tanner which will gently develop a natural, streak free glow over three hours. It is also suitable for dry skin. If you're nervous about fake tanning your face, try a natural bronzer or illuminator so your face still matches the rest of your body.

4. Prolong your colour
The best way to prolong your tan is to keep your body moisturised and hydrated. Ensure to apply a natural body lotion daily as well drink lots of filtered water. Using a moisturising gradual tan cream is also a great way to keep your colour, fix up fading spots and nourish your skin.
