What is Hemp?
Edible Hemp comes from the Cannabis Sativa plant species, but does not have the therapeutic effects of medical marijuana due to low or no levels of the active component, THC. In Australia, only Hemp products with less than 0.5% THC can be considered a food ingredient. Hemp seeds and Hemp oil are known for their nutrient rich properties, containing a wealth of protein, fibre, minerals, vitamins and essential fatty acids which can help to boost skin health. It's also incredibly hydrating, packed with Vitamins A and E, and has been known to treat mild forms of eczema and other dry skin conditions, and even acne.1
Is it legal to consume Hemp?
Yes! As of 12 November 2017, it is legal to consume Hemp in Australia, thanks to changes to the Food Standards Code. The sale and consumption of Hemp as a food ingredient was previously banned, but it can now be consumed perfectly legally!
