Facial oils are a bit of a skincare secret weapon. Where you cleansers are designed to cleanse the skin and moisturisers are designed to add moisture, oils can do a LOT of heavy lifting.

Think of oils and serums as the step in your skincare routine that you can really tailor to suit your specific skin needs. I love using pure oils as they're SO potent, so they can deliver so many of the essential nutrients that my skin needs daily in the one hit!

Should You Be Using a Facial Oil?

Almost everyone can benefit from using a facial oil! One of the biggest misconceptions about facial oils is that they aren't great for people who already have naturally oily skin- but this just isn't true! The key is to deciphering which oils are right for YOUR skin type. There are some oils, like Jojoba, that can even work to balance your skin's natural production of oil!

Why Pure Oils?

There are some great multi-tasking serums and oils out there, but if I want to deliver highly concentrated ingredients to my skin, I'll choose a pure oil. All of the oils in this list are pure and undiluted, meaning you aren't coating your skin in chemicals, toxins and unnecessary fillers- just beautiful, pure, natural ingredients!

The Best Pure Facial Oils

Rosehip Oil is a great all-rounder oil for all skin types, known for its ability to help repair and protect skin, improve elasticity and texture, fade scarring and pigmentation, and smooth out fine lines and uneven skin tone. I love the Life Basics Pure Rosehip Oil as it's 100% pure and cold-pressed.

Suitable for all skin types, and particularly great for oily skin, is Jojoba Oil. The Jojoba plant produces wax esters similar to those in our skin, so the skin recognises them and treats them as they would our own sebum, thus balancing the skin's oil production! It's also rich in Omega 6 & 9 fatty acids, and Vitamins A, D and E and its oil balancing properties can be used to treat acneic skin. I love The Jojoba Company Jojoba Oil.

Cacay Oil is an underrated personal favourite of mine! It contains up to three times more Vitamin A than Rosehip Oil and up to 50% more Vitamin E than Argan Oil, so it's perfect for use on the face, body, hair AND nails to keep them smooth, firm, bright and hydrated. My favourite pure Cacay Oil is the Life Basics Cacay Oil.

Argan is a beautiful and very, very popular oil, known for its incredible hydrating properties and ability to add a glow to everything from the face and body to the hair and nails. Rich in Vitamin E, I love the Acure The Essentials Argan Oil not just because the oil is beautiful and pure, but because this brand only uses soy based inks on their packaging and uses at least 70% recycled material.

If your skin is particularly dry or sensitive, I recommend working a pure Almond Oil into your skincare routine. The Weleda Almond Soothing Facial Oil can be used on its own or as an overnight treatment, working to nourish and protect dry skin types and relieve skin irritations.
