All About Naked Wines!

If you love wine as much as I do, you'll know there's not much more enjoyable than opening a bottle and pouring yourself and loved ones a glass of delicious goodness. At Nourished Life we love partnering with our friends at Naked Wines, an incredibly unique business which actually strives to change the mainstream wine industry for the better by supporting local and passionate winemakers.

What is Naked Wines?

Naked Wines is an award-winning, customer-funded wine business who strive to invest in local, passionate winemakers, featuring wines from across Australia and New Zealand. More than just selling wines, they actually help to fund the winemaking process for independent producers, making Naked Wines markedly different to the mainstream retail wine market, with no middlemen between the retailer and the customer. Since launching in Australia in 2012, Naked Wines Angels have invested over $30 million in more than 40 winemakers. Naked Wines have also been around in the UK since 2008!

One of many Naked Wines success stories, John Colvin built his Montvalley vineyard from scratch over the course of 20 years. Located in the famous winemaking region of the Hunter Valley, the Montvalley vineyard sits hidden in the Brokenback Ranges. In 1998, John and Deidre Colvin purchased 150 acres of vacant land in the Hunter Valley, with dreams of building their own vineyard and family home.

Thanks to the Colvins' winemaking innovation and years of hard work, the family-owned property now also features an 18 hole par three golf course, conference centre with sprawling views, and lush, green gardens. John joined forces with Naked Wines in 2017 so he and the team could focus on their passion - growing the highest quality grapes and crafting award-winning wines.


Montvalley Vineyard

Through this partnership, John and his team are able to continue maintaining the Montvalley vineyard themselves, with every vine hand-pruned and hand-picked to help deliver the most pure Hunter Valley fruit each and every year. According to Montvalley wines, 95% of wine in Australia is actually machine harvested, making John's winemaking practices a refreshing antidote to mass-produced wines. Through Naked Wines, John is also able to communicate directly with Angels and wine lovers and share all kinds of updates, such as how they use the green waste from our green bins as vital mulch to boost their vines during spring!

How does Naked Wines work?

You order bottles and cases of wine online directly through Naked Wines, but Naked Wines are known for their amazing membership program! If you're a wine lover, you can actually become a Naked Wines Angel and invest $40 a month, which then goes back to supporting talented, independent winemakers so they can focus solely on winemaking, with all the other hard work and costs taken care of. In return for this wonderful investment, Angels can purchase exclusive wines at insider or wholesale prices. Naked Wines include reds, whites, rosé, sparkling and dessert wines, and also include certified organic, biodynamic, vegan and vegetarian wines.
