The skincare benefits of Borage Oil!

Buy now

Coming into Winter, it's important to keep your skin hydrated by using natural products that nourish and protect your skin. Particularly if you struggle with sensitive or dry skin conditions, you need to be taking care of your complexion! During the cold months, sensitive skin tends to worsen as it's exposed to changes in temperature as well as heating. To combat this dryness, I love using highly moisturising products that contain essential oils that deeply hydrate and restore. One of my favourite oils at the moment is Borage Oil! It's packed full of fatty acids and anti inflammatory properties.

What is Borage Oil?

Borage Oil is a golden yellow coloured oil extracted from the borage wildflower, often referred to as the starflower. This hydrating oil has been used for hundreds of years both internally and topically to treat inflammation. Borage Oil has some of the highest levels of Gamma-Linolenic Acid (GLA) which is an essential fatty acid that the body can't make on its own.1

When taken internally, Borage Oil has been used to treat both long and short term conditions including PMS symptoms, stress, diabetes, hormonal imbalance and rheumatoid arthritis pain.1 It has also been used to ease menopause symptoms, reduce inflammation and promote breast milk production.

What are the skincare benefits of Borage Oil?

As Borage Oil has such high levels of GLA, it has incredible hydrating benefits for skin, perfect for sensitive skin issues. When the skin isn't able to produce enough protective oils, it can easily dehydrate and result in inflammatory flare ups. When this occurs, applying Borage Oil topically can provide your skin with the essential fatty acids that it's lacking.1

Which Borage Oil products do I recommend?

Acure Seriously Firming Facial Serum
The key firming ingredient in the Acure Seriously FIrming Facial Serum is Borage Oil! Full of Omega 6 fatty acids combined with the oils of Pumpkin, Argan and Cranberry, this serum is rich in macronutrients, vitamins and minerals. It's ultra nourishing and may help to fight off free radical damage. Suitable for normal, dry and mature skin types, this serum may firm the skin and leave you with a glowing complexion. To use, apply 1-2 pumps onto your face after your moisturiser.

Cedar + Stone Atlantis Serum
If you have blemish prone skin, you too can use a serum! The Cedar + Stone Atlantis Serum is ideal for keeping hormonal breakouts at bay. It's made with a blend of rich essential fatty acids, antioxidants and vitamins that may help to balance your skin. Formulated with natural ingredients including Baobab and Borage Oils, this serum is also great for using during mediation. It has actually been infused with the essence of Clear and Rose Quartz. To use, gently massage 3-4 drops onto your face morning and night. You can also use it under makeup as a natural primer.

Acure Baby Buns Nappy Balm
If you're looking for a soothing nappy cream that will keep your baby's bottom free from redness and irritation, the Acure Baby Buns Nappy Balm is my pick! It's made using Certified Organic ingredients including Coconut Oil, Borage Oil and Sunflower Oil which are all highly moisturising and nourishing. You only need a small amount so this tube will last quite a long time! To use, apply directly onto the areas of irritation.

Mukti Antioxidant Facial Serum
Full of antioxidants and plant based liposomes, the Mukti Antioxidant Facial Serum penetrates deep into the skin to provide an intense boost of moisture. Formulated using Kakadu Plum, Mountain Pepper Leaf and Wild Rosella, this serum may help fight against free radical damage and work as an effective skin moisturiser. It's packed full of Omegas 3, 6, 9 and therefore may be ideal for those with oily skin. To use, apply to cleansed and toned skin. Massage a small amount onto your face.
