Have you tried Jojoba Oil? Maybe you're like me and just haven't used it in a while. Recently I brought this classic back into my skincare routine and have been absolutely loving it! Sometimes when I try out so many new products it can be easy to forget about the simple ones, like Jojoba Oil.
What is Jojoba?
Jojoba, pronounced ho-ho-ba, is a versatile, purely natural oil that really penetrates the skin for deep hydration. Jojoba is actually one of the only plants known to produce wax esters that are nearly identical to those in our skin. Our skin is made up of natural wax esters (called sebum) which locks in moisture to keep skin looking healthy and hydrated. As we age this sebum production begins to decrease, meaning fine lines, dry skin and sagging start to occur. The Jojoba plant actually produces wax esters identical to our very own sebum1. If you compare the molecule structures of Jojoba wax esters and human skin sebum, there is an identical double bond2. This means that jojoba mimics our skin's natural oils and can penetrate at a deeper level2.
Jojoba Oil comes from the bean of the Jojoba shrub, which grows in Mexico, and is considered a miracle oil that is high in omega 6 and 9, and full of vitamins A, D, E, and loads of antioxidants.
Jojoba Oil Benefits
Jojoba Oil is a dreamy multi-tasking product that can be used in a variety of ways - a skin moisturiser, cleanser, body moisturiser, hair conditioner, and even a nail strengthener! Jojoba Oil contains many essential fatty acids, powerful antioxidants and vitamins that make it a miracle oil for the skin and hair. Read on to find out the amazing benefits of Jojoba Oil!
Jojoba Oil for skin
Jojoba Oil is a true multi-tasking product that can be used in a variety of ways, but the most common is as a skin moisturiser. Naturally rich in Vitamins A, D and E, this gentle oil works to regenerate skin cells2. It also contains fatty acids Omega 6 and 9, as well as Docosanol, which are antiviral and work to repair damaged skin cells2. Simply apply Jojoba Oil to your skin twice daily to see results.
As Jojoba Oil is so similar to our skin's natural oils, our pores allow it to sink past the top layer of our skin. This means that Jojoba oil penetrates the deep layers of our skin where cell regeneration and synthesisation occurs, providing similar moisturising properties to our skin's natural oils - those natural oils that help keep wrinkles away.
Jojoba Oil is gentle and non-irritating, making it perfect for basically every skin type; it balances oily skin, soothes sensitive skin, hydrates dry skin and helps can even be used on acne and breakouts. It even has special properties that may help to improve the appearance of scars and stretch marks from your skin. It's no wonder why Jojoba Oil is found in nearly every organic skincare product.

Jojoba Oil for face
Jojoba Oil is naturally gentle, non-comedogenic and non-irritating, making it perfect for almost every skin type. Whether you have dry skin, oily skin, or anything in between, Jojoba Oil really is a miracle oil!
Jojoba Oil for anti-ageing
Packed with amazing anti-ageing benefits, Jojoba oil can aid in helping to keep your skin plump, firm, and naturally beautiful. Blended with antioxidants that fight premature ageing, this oil helps to fight against wrinkles and brighten dull skin by providing essential moisture, allowing the skin to regenerate and rejuvenate itself.
Jojoba Oil for acne
It's non-comedogenic, meaning that it won't clog your pores. This makes jojoba oil perfect for acne-prone skin because it tricks your skin into thinking it's already produced enough oil when applied. Unlike harsh acne treatments that contain acids like salicylic or glycolic acids that strip the skin of excess sebum, jojoba oil works to control your own sebum production to reduce the appearance of acne.
Jojoba Oil for dry skin
Jojoba Oil is wonderful for relieving dry, flaking, itching skin, making it great for dry skin types and even at soothing drying skin conditions like eczema. Jojoba Oil is actually a wax formula, so it lasts significantly longer than other natural oils, making it a long lasting addition to your skincare routine.
Jojoba Oil for oily skin
As Jojoba Oil is very similar makeup to our own sebum, it is believed that with consistent use, Jojoba Oil can trick the skin into thinking it has produced enough oil, preventing excessive oil production. Plus, unlike most oils, Jojoba Oil does not give an oily or greasy appearance on application, and it's also odourless.
Jojoba Oil for makeup removal
It can also be used as a non irritating and soothing way to remove any makeup on the skin! To use Jojoba Oil as a make up remover, you can simply add a few drops of the oil to a cotton pad, and sweep over your face. You'll be surprised at how quickly and easily Jojoba Oil works to remove even the strongest of makeup.
