According to the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry and the Journal of Pharmacy and Pharmacology, raw maqui berries have a score of 27,600 units per 100 grams on the Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity (ORAC) test, which is a scale that measures the effectiveness of antioxidants in foods. This makes maqui berries the most antioxidant-dense fruit in the world.

One of the antioxidants found in maqui berries is vitamin C, which is essential for collagen production. Numerous studies - including one published in the October 2007 edition of the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, show that regular Vitamin C intake results in fewer fine lines and healthier skin.
