Top 10 Natural Alternatives to those Products!
- Sydney, 2 June 2016 - By Irene Falcone -
If you’re in the early stages of making the switch to natural products, I know just how difficult it can be to find natural alternatives to popular mainstream products. With a little research however, I’ve discovered some amazing products that work just as good (if not better!) than their toxin filled counterparts. You don’t need to be using chemical ridden products to achieve healthy, glowing skin or silky smooth hair. I have had such a fantastic response from my last natural alternatives blog post, I just had to write another!
For those days when I want to look put together in a hurry, my go to makeup product is a natural BB cream. There are so many on the mainstream market, like the Garnier BB Cream, which contain ingredients that are potentially harmful to your skin. For a natural and safe alternative, I recommend the 100% Pure BB Creams! They come in three universal shades that combine the moisturising benefits of skincare with the complexion perfecting benefits of foundation. These BB creams may also be ideal for anyone with sensitive skin prone to redness, as it contains soothing ingredients including Coconut Oil and Lavender. Another plus? It contains an SPF 25 to help protect your skin from the sun!
For a natural alternative to the Clarins Beauty Flash Balm, I recommend the Vapour Stratus Soft Focus Instant Skin Perfector - s902, which works even better than it’s mainstream alternative! This skin perfector is a gorgeous, velvety formula that moisturises and primes your skin for makeup. You can even wear it as a colour free foundation! It’s made with nourishing ingredients including Evening Primrose Oil and Sunflower Seed Oil which may help smooth and perfect your complexion. To use, dispense a small amount onto your fingertips and apply gently to the face.
Q10 Face Cream
Coenzyme Q10 is an incredible skincare ingredient that fights free radical damage and boosts your skin’s antioxidant levels. It can also encourage collagen production and increase skin’s elasticity. To receive the benefits of this skincare ingredient, you don’t need to be using chemical based products like the Nivea Q10 creams. My favourite natural alternative is the Lavera Basis Anti-Ageing Moisturising Cream with Q10. It’s perfect for anyone with sensitive or maturing skin and it may help fight off the first signs of ageing and provide a healthy glow to the skin. Lavera also have a matching CoQ10 Night Cream
Paw Paw Ointment
If you’re Australian, chances are you know Lucas’ Paw Paw ointment in that little red tube. Although loved by many, this PawPaw cream is filled with Petroleum Jelly which often contains petrolatum, mineral oil, liquid paraffin or paraffin oil. You don’t want to be putting those ingredients anywhere near your mouth! A natural and safe alternative is the Little Innoscents Organic Paw Paw Balm. Free from Petroleum, this Organic Paw Paw balm may protect and soothe without clogging pores. Made with Beeswax, Calendula and Shea Butter, you can use this balm on damaged lips, cracked hands, sore nipples or nappy rash.
For a natural alternative to cold cream, you can’t go past the 100% Pure Intensive Nourish Moisture Balm. Perfect for anyone with dry, flaking or sore skin. It’s formulated with gentle ingredients including anti-ageing Almond Butter and moisturising Shea Butter, this balm may soothe dry skin. You can use this balm in place of your regular moisturiser or as an hydrating treatment particularly on dry areas of skin.
You don’t need to spend a fortune on Mason Pearson brushes to achieve silky smooth hair. To tame your wild locks, the Life Basics - Vegan Bamboo Hair Brushes really do the trick! Made with recycled wood and plastics that benefit the environment, these vegan hair brushes detangle without tearing the hair. The gentle and flexible bristles gently massage the scalp for a smooth finish. These soft brushes are perfect for kids who don’t always enjoy having their hair groomed! They come in three useful sizes.
If you’re a fan of creating gorgeous eyeshadow looks, then you have to try the 100% Pure Pretty Naked Palette. It’s an all natural and vegan alternative to the popular Urban Decay Naked Palette. Housed in pretty pink packaging, this palette contains three neutral eyeshadow shades (flaxseed, toffee and chestnut), a pink champagne luminescent powder and the classic pretty naked blush. It has all your makeup favourites in one place, making it so easy to get ready on the go! The best part? All of the stunning colours are pigmented with fruits, seeds and flowers!
Classic Body Wash
So many soaps on the mainstream market contain artificial ingredients that can strip your skin of its natural oils, leaving it feeling dry. A natural alternative to the classic Dove Beauty Bar soap is the Dr Bronner’s Pure-Castile Bar Soaps. Available in a range of scents including Almond and Fragrance Free, these bar soaps work into a luxurious lather to cleanse the skin without causing irritation. They’re a bathroom must have!
Coming into Winter, the only way to get a natural looking tan is by using a great gradual tanner! To get that glow, you don’t need to be using chemical based tanners like the Dove Summer Glow. An amazing natural alternative is the Eco Tan Winter Skin! Made with cacao, this product builds a chocolate-honey coloured glow over 3-4 applications. It’s perfect for anyone with very light skin because you can control how dark you want the colour to appear. It’s not tinted and dries instantly, so you don’t have to worry about staining your clothes. It’s also streak free and doesn’t have that nasty chemical smell that lingers on your skin. To use, apply several light layers every few days.
If you or your little ones are feeling congested, a natural vapour rub is an effective way to relieve inflammation and stuffiness. The Simple As That Natural Vapour Rub is a great natural alternative to the Vicks Vapour Rub as it doesn’t contain any nasties like petrochemicals or turpentine. It’s made with 100% ingredients including Shea Butter, Eucalyptus Oil and Peppermint Oil which may help clear out congestion. To use, massage onto the chest.
