Rosacea

Rosacea is an inflammatory condition that causes the blood vessels to enlarge resulting in redness around the cheeks and nose. As well as the flushed appearance commonly associated with rosacea, some sufferers also experience small hard spots. Rosacea treatment can be difficult, as the symptoms of rosacea can be exacerbated by a wide range of triggers such as red and white wine, spices and caffeine. Changes in temperature can also play a part, with flare-ups caused by cold weather and central heating in the winter and sunshine and humidity in the summer. Common rosacea triggers can also include mainstream skin care ingredients, so we recommend swapping to natural alternatives as a first step in rosacea treatment, including safe for rosacea creams and cleansers. Choose products with non-drying ingredients to help reduce inflammation, and always protect skin from the elements. Everyone has different rosacea triggers, so always patch test rosacea products before use.

If you suffer from rosacea, we strongly recommend identifying your own personal triggers. Our Nourished Life naturopath offers a non-invasive test and advice about what you should avoid to treat your rosacea, great for those who are looking to make dietary and environmental changes. Stress can also be a contributing factor, so rosacea treatment plans can include taking time to relax. Certain supplements can help strengthen the capillaries and blood vessels, whilst others boost essential fatty acids to soothe sensitive skin. We also stock beautiful natural products that may help to ease the symptoms of rosacea and calm the associated redness.
