Here at Nourished Life, we are all about living toxin-free in the most convenient and affordable way possible, so when we discovered the new 100% Pure Pot Rouge Blush ($25 for 3.5g) we couldn't wait to compare them against the famous RMS Lip2Cheek tints ($45 for 5.6g).
First up, the 100% Pure fruit pigmented Blush Pot Rouge. This arrived in a gorgeous little frosted glass pot that is perfect travel size. The colour I chose to try out was Rosey. It was soft and almost cream like to touch but when applied to my cheeks, it was a silky, incredibly light powder. I used my fingers to blend the rouge into my cheeks, which it did with ease. As it is very light and my skin is slightly olive, so I had to apply a couple of layers to get that rosey, pink glow.
I wore it on top of my organic BB Cream but it is so light, you could wear it on bare skin and it would still look beautiful and natural. When applying this to my lips, I thought the powdery texture could dry them out, but it didn't at all! Again it left a gorgeous pinky tint that stayed on for hours. I applied my lip balm over the top to help it stay.
I also absolutely love that 100% Pure's pot rouges are fruit and vegetable pigmented and completely free from chemical preservatives, artificial fragrances and synthetic chemicals.
The RMS lip2cheek came in a similar but slightly bigger frosted glass pot, though still small enough to be convenient for travel and actually more practical if you were using a brush to apply. I chose the shade 'Modest' as it was most like 100% Pure's Rosey. It was also creamy to the touch [almost like the texture of lipstick] and the consistency remained like this on application. It was a lot thicker and more oily than the 100% Pure and the colour was definitely deeper and more intense. I applied this on to my cheeks with my fingers however it required a bit more work to blend due to the heavier texture. Once applied and blended, it was a beautiful warm berry colour, which I loved.
When applied to my lips, it was almost like putting on a lipstick! The creamy texture felt hydrating, but again you only need a small amount, as the colour and feel are quite heavy.
RMS also uses organic ingredients but is tinted with mineral colours (and carmine), compared to the 100% Pure which is coloured with berries.
All in all, I thought both products worked effectively and were gorgeous colours. However for the natural, effortless look and price point, I loved the 100% Pure Pot Rouge. The silky soft texture gave a very natural glow to my cheeks that was subtle enough for everyday use but also easily intensified for going out at night. It also coloured my lips without looking like I had put lipstick on- it was just the perfect amount to make my lips pop.
