Perfume is such a personal thing — we all love different scents, and they also react differently on people's skin. Given that mainstream perfumes are often filled with nasties I have always said that natural perfume is a much better option for anyone who wants to live toxin-free, not to mention they are so much gentler on our noses! Natural perfumes are created using beautiful natural essential oils, so I am thrilled to share this new range with you, all designed so that you can actually also mix and match them to create your own unique, signature scent.

Less is More organic colognes were created through the teamwork of Dr Doris Brandhuber, a chemist, aromatherapist and environmental consultant, and Hannes Trummer, a hairstylist and trainer. Passionate about the environment, health and natural cosmetics, the team created a line of organic perfumes, crafted using the finest organically certified essential oils. 100% of the total ingredients in Less is More perfumes are from natural origin, while 95-96% of the total ingredients are from organic farming. Wherever possible, essential oils are sourced from organic and biodynamic farms, and are as concentrated as possible to preserve the full benefits of aromatherapy. Less is More perfumes are COSMOS Certified Organic, vegan and made in Vienna, Austria. The company also holds B Corp certification, meaning they meet the highest standards of social and environmental performance, public transparency and legal accountability.

How to make natural perfume last longer

According to Less Is More, we should think of our perfume like a fine wine... this means we should store it in the same way — in a cool, dark place (not necessarily a cellar, though.) If we just store perfume in a box, drawer or cupboard it will be protected from the effects of sunlight, preserving the natural aroma for longer. For a lingering scent, spritz your perfume through your hair to diffuse the aroma, apply directly to skin, mist through the air and walk through, or add a couple of sprays to your body moisturiser. Scents like Bedtime Stories can also be sprayed onto your bed linen or pyjamas. Never rub your wrists together after spraying perfume on them — this can have a detrimental effect on perfumes as the friction and heat can change the natural enzymes! Florals, for example, can lose their crispness when damaged in this way.

There are nine beautiful scents to choose from in the Less is More range, all with sample options available so you can test them out first and find your perfect scent before committing to the full-size bottle.

Organic women's perfume

Bedtime Stories
Designed to help encourage sweet dreams, the Bedtime Stories perfume is perfect for spraying onto your pillow or pyjamas at nighttime to help you relax and unwind before bed. It's inspired by the song Nocturn by Kate Bush, filled with powdering Lavender, warm Vanilla and a cosy hint of incense.

Lovely Day
The Lovely Day perfume is truly designed to brighten your day, inspired by the song Lovely Day by Bill Withers. This fresh and feminine blend features vibrant Mandarin, blossom and Grapefruit, while Juniper and Vetiver add a touch of spice and earthiness.

Me & My Sunshine
Inspired by the song You Are the Sunshine of My Life by Stevie Wonder, Me & My Sunshine, is a delicate and peaceful blend of Orange Blossom water, green citrus leaves and Mandarin zest. This refreshing scent can actually be used during pregnancy as well as afterwards — spray on your baby's bed linen during the day to help them relax, or use while travelling to take the comfort and familiarity with home with you.

Orange Bloom
Perfect for those who love a zesty perfume, the Orange Bloom cologne is a citrusy blend of Sicilian Orange and Bergamot, complemented by the floral notes of Jasmine and Neroli as well as aromatic Basil, Pepper and Sandalwood. Sensual and soulful, this perfume was actually inspired by the song Orange Moon by Erykah Badu.

Wide Awake
Formulated to impart a sense of energy and focus, Wide Awake is a powerful blend of Cypress, Lemongrass and Patchouli, as well as sophisticated Thyme, Geranium and Pepper. This vivid blend recalls the song Wild Horses by The Rolling Stones.

Natural men's cologne

Green Magic
Inspired by the song Amor Fati by Washed Out, Green Magic is a crystal clear, crisp and fresh blend of white Grapefruit and green Cardamom, complemented by delicate Orange Blossom and spicy Coriander. This stimulating cologne is designed to inspire a sense of adventure and mystique.

Herbalist Canticle
A complex, multilayered blend Herbalist Canticle evokes the whimsical nature of the song Scarborough Fair by Simon and Garfunkel. Clear and fresh Peppermint and Rosemary are grounded by herbal Thyme, Clary Sage and Chamomile.

Nature Boy
Named after Nat King Cole's hit song, Nature Boy is a masculine blend of Bergamot and Douglas Pine, balanced by lemony Petitgrain Lime, spicy Coriander and warm Patchouli.

Warm and smoky, Solemnis was inspired by the grandeur of Beethoven's Missa Solemnis (Solemn Mass), containing a dark and complex blend of aromatic Tonka and Vetiver, tart Pepper, warm Rose, fruity Kaffir Lime and complex incense.
