Sometimes it can be difficult to find a formula which suits your child's needs, so I've put together this guide to natural sunscreens for kids. While daily sun protection is extremely important for all of us, it is essential for protecting kids' delicate young skin to avoid overexposure and sunburn. Natural sunscreens are ideal for providing physical mineral protection from the sun's harsh rays, but children sometimes dislike the texture, smell or feel of certain formulas, making those especially designed for young skin a great choice for fussy kids.
Can natural sunscreen be used on babies?
For young children and babies under a year old, it is generally recommended that the best form of sun protection is to keep them completely out of direct sunlight with protective clothing, such as hats and long sleeves, and plenty of shade.1 Sunscreen can be used on exposed areas including the face and hands, but for children under 6 months we recommend checking with your healthcare professional before use.

With all sunscreens avoid contact with eyes and if irritation persists discontinue use. Sunscreen is only one part of sun protection. Wear protective clothing, hats and sunglasses when exposed to the sun, and stay in the shade where possible. Prolonged high-risk sun exposure should be avoided. Frequent reapplication and use in accordance with the directions is required for effective sun protection. Always read the label and use only as directed.
