Protein bars are such a great way to add some nutrition to your morning or afternoon snack, but did you know that some bars can contain quite a lot of hidden sugar? I wanted to share an amazing find with you, so I've put together this guide to my absolute favourite natural protein bars from KOJA.
I don't know about you but one of my biggest weaknesses is when it comes to snacking between meals. Why do we need Protein?
Protein is an essential part of nutrition for muscle repair and function. It can be consumed both from wholefoods and supplements, and is digested into amino acids, giving your body energy and ensuring that it can physically and mentally function and repair itself correctly. A lack of Protein in our diets can actually lead to loss of muscle, especially as we age, making it important to ensure we continue to meet our daily intake throughout our lives. For an adult woman, the recommended daily intake is around 0.75g per kilo of bodyweight, so for example if you weigh around 60 kg, you should be consuming about 45g of Protein each day. Pregnant and breastfeeding women may need to consume a bit more, around 1g per kg, and the same goes for anyone over 70 years old.1
